Privacy Policy

Last updated: December 1, 2025

1. Introduction

Flayr Labs LLC ("we", "us", or "the Company") operates skwod. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our managed service and mobile applications. If you self-host skwod, your data is stored on your own infrastructure and this policy applies only to any interactions with our services (e.g., app downloads, update checks).

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and avatar. Authentication is handled via Supabase Auth.

User Content

Messages, images, videos, audio clips, stories, feed posts, and files you share through the Service. When end-to-end encryption is enabled, message content is encrypted on your device and we cannot access it.

Usage Data

We may collect basic usage analytics such as feature usage patterns, crash reports, and performance metrics to improve the Service. This data is anonymized and does not include message content.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • To deliver messages and media between users in real time
  • To send push notifications (with your permission)
  • To process payments for the mobile app and managed hosting
  • To detect and prevent abuse or security threats

4. End-to-End Encryption

skwod supports end-to-end encryption (E2EE) for messages and voice/video calls. When E2EE is enabled, your content is encrypted on your device before it reaches our servers. We do not have the ability to decrypt this content. Encryption keys are managed on your devices and are never transmitted to us in a readable form.

5. Data Storage & Security

For the managed service, data is stored on secure infrastructure provided by Supabase and major cloud providers. We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption at rest and in transit, regular security audits, and access controls.

6. Self-Hosted Instances

When you self-host skwod, all data — including messages, files, stories, and feed content — is stored on your own infrastructure. Flayr Labs LLC has no access to your self-hosted data. You are responsible for securing and backing up your instance.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share information only in the following circumstances:

  • With your consent
  • To comply with legal obligations or valid legal process
  • To protect the rights, safety, or property of Flayr Labs LLC or our users
  • With service providers who assist in operating the Service (under strict data processing agreements)

8. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law. Encrypted content that we cannot decrypt will be purged alongside your account.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction or deletion of your data
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Object to or restrict certain processing of your data

To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@flayrlabs.com.

10. Children's Privacy

skwod is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such data, we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes via the Service or email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
